Overview of Dr. A.T.W. Simeon’s Research

Seen today as an innovative pioneer, British endocrinologist A.T.W. Simeons first theorized that hCG (human chorionic Gonadotropin) could aid in weight loss in 1954.

While studying pregnant women in India, and overweight boys with pituitary problems, Simeon treated both with low-dose hCG. He discovered that both lost fat rather than lean (muscle) tissue. Simeon reasoned that hCG must be affecting the brain, specifically the hypothalamus.

In the developing fetus, hCG was found to be protective and aided nourishment. Simeon realized that outside the womb, hCG’s role is to trigger the hypothalamic lean-protection mechanisms. HCG would promote mobilization and consumption of abnormal, excessive adipose deposits (fat), while protecting normal adipose and lean tissue from being consumed.

Simeon found these protective hypothalamic mechanisms exist in both women and men, and impacted by hCG in both genders.

For overweight men, he theorized that since much late-life male obesity is associated with estrogen dominance and deficient testosterone, hCG could help restore the more youthful testosterone dominated hormonal balance.

Armed with his new theory about this versatile but little understood hormone, Dr. Simeon proceeded to use low-dose daily hCG injections (125 mg) in combination with a customized ultra-low-calorie (500 cal/day, high-protein, low-carbohydrate/fat) diet to help obese adults lose dramatic amounts of adipose tissue (fat) without loss of lean muscle mass.

Simeon’s weight loss work was performed at Salvator Mundi International Hospital in Rome, Italy, a high-dollar clinic mainly for celebrities.
